KIRKUS REVIEW

Miss Martha, all eyes and ears on a small town newspaper, views with dismay the proposed Delta wedding of Lynn Eaton, the daughter of hateful, hated Miss Sadie, to an older man as she attempts to escape her mother. Death makes this unnecessary- but Lynn, in the evidence she withholds, is the victim not only of the murderer- but of the town as well, until she is forced to violate a misguided loyalty. Deep southern- but not deep.
