Here are the people that Miz' Rich knows, down in Maine, below the Canadian border, her neighbors, who they are, what they do and what their friendship means to her. Although you hear that there is ""nothing here but climate"", there are plenty of human interest stories, about guides, the game warden, lumbering, families, the romance of a young couple -- all sorts of things that make for good reading. There's a lot too, about the very, very beautiful country, about fortitude and an astringent approach to the kind of life that the author and her kind of people lead. There's a warmth and a love in the telling of the individual stories, that makes an appreciative testimony which will further endear her to the readers who have followed her since Look To The Woods.
