THE DEER ON THE STAIRS

Again, social comedy but not as generally appealing as The Lighted Box, and somewhat purposeless, as a week-end in a small New England village resolves the story of the irresolute Iris. Delicate, whimsical, noticing dialogue and portraiture in the heroine and her entourage:- Iria, who is aimless, romantic, ""emotionally untidy"", bored in the small village, in her married life, and drifting from vague romance; and her only friends, Ellin and John, who try to distract her. She is determined this time to run off with a young clerk, William, shy, poetic, wan; Ellin and John relax the vigilance just long enough to let her slip away on what they know will be merely another unreal escapade.....Puffball for rentals.
