These are the New Zealand Hillarys, family of the conqueror of Everest. Not long ago, the U. S. Forest Service asked him to do an inspection tour of some of its recreation facilities, so he piled his wife and three small children into a station wagon and set out to fulfill this request en route from his temporary lecture-tour home in Chicago to a vacation in Alaska. They had a merry time, approved highly of the Forest Service, and arrived safely up North despite the little crises about which it was necessary to keep calm. Sears, Roebuck and supplied much of their gear in return for their participation in a family film about Alaskan comparing, and the next time you see a travelogue you'll appreciate it a lot more remembering Mrs. Hillary's dry-wit tales of what hard work it is to star in one. She closes with a short but interesting glimpse of India, Tibet, and Nepal, where they stopped briefly on their way home. It's pleasant to read about happy people for a change, and the illustrations are charming.
