SUGAR SHANTY by Louise Rorke

Publisher: Nelson

This is pretty second rate, this story of a boy tramp and his dog, and the mystery of his past and his relationship with the dog. He finds a comfortable and happy berth on a farm, living in the sugar shanty, until an admirer of the daughter of the house makes it his business to instigate trouble. It ends with a shooting and a trial, but of course our hero is vindicated and all is well. In the process, the story is an odd blend of periods, locale and so forth.
