Woman's magazine substance handled in a mystic, oh-so- fragile manner. A poet cannot quite come to grips with her plot, but is content to trace the evolution of a girl from childhood to maturity, in symbolic fashion. The central star pattern of the apple, with the points representing time, space, life, death and identity, is the reason for the title. The years at home, the death of mother and aunts, the renunciation of the childhood friend, and the end -- who knows? Too too lush -- too too dainty -- and a bit absurd.
