HOW THE ARMY FIGHTS

By

Pub Date: July 30th, 1943
Publisher: Appleton-Century

A satisfactory survey book of definition that is more comprehensive in its inclusion of methods, strategy, as well as lay-out, than previous books on the organization and functions of the Armed Services. Limpus maintains that the basic principles of warcraft are unaltered, that the mass army is still its bulwark, and that change lies only in mechanization, speed. The composition of the modern army, various branches, weapons, terminology, functions, strategy of attack and defense, coordination loglatios -- all analyzed factually. The closing chapters outline the various possibilities in the conduct of the war against Hitler and the Japanese and also survey the projected cost in human life-----40 million battle casualties.
