PERSONAL FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT: for the Army Officer

Primarily designed for the officer in the regular army (if one can judge from reference to family, household goods, etc.) but with application today to the officer who is inducted from civilian life into a totally new background. Although the subject of cutting the coat to fit the cloth is particularly tied up to army pay, special allowances, special insurances, etc. the basic problems of budgeting household expenditures, overhead, of how to use a bank account, of credit, its values and its danger are universal for all young people starting out on an independent life. There is sound (though often obvious) advice on savings and investments, on taxes, on owning a car (already for the moment dated), on facing events in case of death. There is special and particular advice on the necessary papers for personal files and miscellaneous instructions of interest primarily to army men going into active service.
