KIRKUS REVIEW

This is grand adventure with good factual background of life in the U.S. Navy during the War of 1812. The central figure is a boy midshipman, who took part in successive famous engagements, and saw the naval side of the war from every angle. Particularly interesting to read this picture of a midshipman's life in comparison with Robb White's MIDSHIPMAN LEE (Little, Brown -- See page 459).
