In text and pictures, this is the story of how two children helped the Forest Ranger by spotting a fire which started in a ""blind spot"". The setting is the Colorado Rockies, and the things that happen are characteristic of beginnings of forest fires --though causes are by-passed. The drawings have a decorative quality with two color and line, but suffer from the inadequacies in drawing adults that characterize so much modern juvenile illustration. Companion volume -- with the same children, Judy and John, that we met in the earlier The Little River of Gold. Vocabulary level- third grade self reading.
