A novelist, writing under a nom de plume, tells of the incidents, kindliness, conversations, tolerance, of her ten years' stay in bed, with a heart that had played her false. Behind the veil of anonymity, she tells the stories of her friends, of the succession of maids, of painful jaunts outside the city into health colonies, of the life and problems they present to an invalid. Readable, amusing, original. There are despairing moments, as there are moments of high courage, but it is a human interest document rather than an uplift book.
