Gina, the 17-year-old fashionista of the undead, is back and as sassy as ever (Vamped, 2009). Having put down the vampire queen who was so anxious to cut Gina out in order to take control of Bobby, Gina’s one true love forever, this dynamic duo is now working for the so-uncool Feds. Assigned to go undercover as an emancipated minor, she has to infiltrate the local goth clique to see if they are behind some of the recent local disturbances at a rural high school. Black just does nothing for her, which she knows even without having a reflection in the mirror. But nothing stops Gina for long. Before you know it, she is cruising around town in a tricked-out hearse with a new posse of goth friends, butt-whipping jerk jocks and riding to the rescue of one and all. Thoroughly enjoyable, this sequel is a light, fizzy read. The plot isn’t what matters here; listening in on Gina’s thoughts and quick-witted dialogue is what makes this such a treat. (Paranormal romance.12 & up)
