KIRKUS REVIEW

Life among the ancient Tewas, a pueblo tribe, is described with the feeling that springs from thorough research as the author tells the adventures of Younger Brother, recently initiated into manhood. With the boy, we do all the things he must do to win his place in the village. After the ceremony in the Kiva there is his long journey of meditation and endurance in the wilderness; his bravery that helps save the Tewas from wandering marauders who want their corn. And as Younger Brother's nemesis throughout, there is crafty Coyote who dogs him until his bravado is squelched, and Younger Brother has rightfully earned his new name- Flying Eagle.
