THE LOST PRINCE: Louis XVII of Frence

Drawing on the known facts and the legends about the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette who was rumored to be dead in 1795, Miss Wallower has attempted to recreate the events which may have occurred. The end result is a hopeless mishmash of disjointed occurrences and stilted dialogue. In a plodding style, Miss Wallower narrates the adventures of ten year old Charles Fontaine (who is the Dauphin in disguise) from the time he sailed for America until he reached Azilum, a village in Pennsylvania. The author, who has drawn on the folklore of Pennsylvania before (The Morning Star, 1957, 692, J-242 and others), makes only slight use of local color, and therefore, even the regional appeal is at a minimum.
