The author of A Conch Shell for Molly writes another period and regional story, this time of the Pennsylvania-Dutch, near Harrisburg, back in 1883. The thread of plot is slight; the dialect would make it difficult for youngsters to read it to themselves; but there's a good feeling of the family life, the sharing of household responsibilities, market day, country and city -- in a story of Susy and her laze chick. The material is not quite so fresh -- but it is well does.
