There is more room at the top. Its social register- not just ""a glorified telephone directory""; its status symbols; its one world of hairdressers, of homes, clothes, menus (no variety), dogs and boats; its clubs; the benevolent activities which offer the surest means of infiltration; the right schools which precede the debut and The League; the social secretary- and the press agent (a more horrifying artifact- $3000 to $4000 a month), etc., etc., this has not the tone of Cleveland Amory but it is a highly informing tattletale- full of names and eyebrow-lifting (to some hair-raising) encounters. The title alone assures a certain entree.
