An informative and lively picture of the author's experiences in Northern Rhodesia at the Roan Antelope Copper Mines, first as secretary to her brother-in-law, then as wife of an Englishman working there. The book is filled with details of the life there, household problems, help, food, pets, social life, anecdotes and legends and African beliefs. Many of her experiences are on the amusing side, and the book, though of specialized interest, is very readable.
