THE NATIONAL PARKS OF THE UNITED STATES

This should not be viewed as the usual type of book about our National Parks. It is written with a specific purpose- to summarize the origins, beginnings, development, organization of the National Park Service so that those countries (his particular interest is the Spanish speaking countries) who have no such setup can profit thereby. He shares too in these pages his enthusiasm for the scenic panorama of America and in particular the thirty National Parks he briefly describes, and those other preserves which foster the concept of conservation, preservation of historical sites, protection of Indians. An Appendix traces the influence of Spain in our National Parks and monuments- again a factor of special concern to the audience he is approaching. There will be some peripheral value and possible sales for tourist background reading and for a brief survey to be used in social studies in schools.
