DUCKS FLY

When their parent says ""Quack!,"" six half-grown ducks take off from their river into the air, leaving just one swimming--until the straggler is washed over a waterfall and propelled aloft with the others. The minimal, large-print text here is appropriate to the youngest, but it's Dabcovich's vibrant illustrations that distinguish this--broad, flowing line splashed with watercolors in springtime blues and greens evoke the lively fowl in a lucid, pristine landscape. Not essential, but very attractive.
