KIRKUS REVIEW

An attractive craft book that combines clean, full-color photos and step-by-step directions for making string, rod, shadow and glove puppets. These puppets, created from ordinary household materials (paper plates, bags, spoons, fabric, boxes, plastic soda bottles), are unusually appealing; the directions for making them are simple and straightforward. The author provides a brief history of puppetry and lists of materials with tips on using them; museums with puppetry collections; and further reading. Part of the "Fresh Start" series, this is a fine addition to the craft section. Index.
