HOW THE AUTOMOBILE LEARNED TO RUN

An attractive picture fact book by a successful and creative author of a number of excellent books about the world we live in. Here he writes a lively history of the automobile from the first steam-driven wagon driven through the streets of Paris in 1769 down to the luxurious modern passenger cars, the efficient buses, the indispensable military vehicles of today. The historical background is excellent, the section on modern motors necessarily rather loose. Perhaps a later edition, when new cars are on the market, can revise this. Excitement, humor and accuracy are heightened by Herbert Kruckman's big, brightly colored pictures, in two colors and black and white. Clear type -- attractive page layout -- cloth binding. Excellent merchandise as well as library appeal. Good value.
