Sort of a story within a story, about a murder diminished by a larger scaled one (a My Lai episode) which has something to do with it or does it? For the young man, back from Vietnam, who is killed has some papers relating to an older racial incident at Naha, all coming to light on microfilm tamped in his pipes. This is told by Judy who is living in Greenwich Village with a black -- quiet, steady Virgil, friend of the dead man. You'll like them even if the story is too arranged to give you much to think about. But then your consciousness is being expanded in every other direction.
