KIRKUS REVIEW

Devoted Ladies got some nice reviews -- did it sell? We like this better. Ireland again, and the intra-mural problems of the Bird family. Although outwardly happy and obviously wealthy, it takes the machinations of a friend of the family to banish the shadows and rescue the tilted applecart. Again the brittle style, with its barbed humor, and with just-over-the-line-of-normality characters. --The market is slightly ""precieuse"", I should say.
