KIRKUS REVIEW

More gay, unusual, and infections culinary counsel from an expert who reserves her right to originality and haute cuisine but brings it down to a sufficiently economic level to for the wolf. Counteracting the idea of balanced meals with the idea of balancing the day, and thereby obviating monotony, she goes on to show how all kinds of different, savory, healthful dished can be done -- at a minimum. Soups, fish, eggs, breads, beef, birds, starches, vegetables, and added wartime helps on making soaps and substitutes, on blackout shelves, on feeding your animals, etc. And she has a very nice way with the language.
