PAGEANT OF JAPANESE HISTORY

Pub Date: Aug. 17th, 1938

Much needed companion volume of Seeger's Pageant of Chinese History, and although better than adequate, it does not quite repeat the success of that volume. (Perhaps because one is prejudiced a bit in advance against the Japanese). I know of no other one volume history, however, that summarizes the major trends and events as succinctly and clearly. Not a critical commentary, but a straight presentation of facts, a survey of influences and trends, as the Chinese, the Dutch and Western influences changed the course of history. Brings it up through the creation of Manchuko. Illustrated with photogravures from Japanese art, photographs, illustrations by Toyogior Onishi. Important school and library item. Possibility of plus sale for adults.
