WHO WOKE THE SUN?

All the animals living in the forest are confronted with an urgent question. Who, they wonder, wakes the sun? There are various theories posited, but it is the wise owl who finally gives the conference an explicit lesson in the solar system, a lesson received with glee. Karla Kuskin's quaint and colorful drawings make explicit the qualities of the various animals but also punctuate with whimsy the important scientific lesson the book teaches. A thoroughly gay and refreshing introduction to astronomy and to nature study, this book will be well received for its instruction and entertainment value. Appropriate for pre-readers and early readers.
