ENGAGED TO MURDER

International politics with a throwback to Vichy collaborators, and involvement of seamy American business in the Argentine, complicates the unravelling of a particularly exotic murder at a dinner party in Buenos Aires. Exotic because at least half the guests had cause and opportunity- and because Rick Vanner, ex-naval intelligence, and still on government secret business in the Argentine, happens to be among those present, and is convinced that a one-time subordinate of his is not as guilty as he looks. The disentangling of the web, which nets a second murder, provides some not too savory bits for a good melodrama.
