KIRKUS REVIEW

Biographies in brief with emphasis on incidents of childhood, many of them unfamiliar stories of familiar characters. There are several in which George Washington appears (not always the central figure), there are two of Theodore Roosevelt; there are individual stories of so varied a group as Lincoln, Jefferson, Hamilton, Jenny Lind, Alice Freeman Palmer, Robert Fulton, R. L. Stevenson, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Betsy Metcalf, Cornelia Greene, etc. Good material Lurt by sentimentalized presentation.
