THE ENCHANTED PLAYHOUSE by Mabel Betsy Hill

THE ENCHANTED PLAYHOUSE

Playhouses -- a subject of unfailing interest to the tea and doll set -- is the matter for this frilly yarn about two little girls and their search for a playhouse of their own. Experiments with pigpens, tents, tree houses and a boat house fail, and it is not until the storm blows up a mysterious playhouse in their own field that the twins Polly and Patty see their dreams come true. The illustrations set the tone -- a bit stilted, stylized with an air of superimposed gentility -- of pinafores and delicate little girls. Large print for second-third year readers.
