More about Riley The Back Seat Driver who took such good care of his master the doctor back in 1949 (on p. 360), takes the terrier and the physician on a jaunty summer vacation up north to Maine. Riley's repartee sparks the events as they happen-porcupines, bees, a boat, a lobster feast, a happy leavetaking with the promise of return. The going is funny here, but it lacks what we thought might be a Dr. Doolittle quality in its inconsequence and rather uninventive instances.
