MICHEL'S ISLAND

What Loon Feather is for adult readers, Michel's Island is for their juniors. For here is a fine story of a boy, part Indian, part French, and of the warring of the two parts within him. Of his love for his home, the island at the heart of the Great Lakes, Michilimackinac. Of life there, around 1800 when the voyageurs, the fur traders helped make a new country. Plenty of adventure, against a background of life in that place and time, culminating in Michel's choice of his island and the calling to be medicine man for his people.
