Faced with a dastardly 1962 plot to unseat Queen Elizabeth and return the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson to power, Her Majesty’s Secret Service calls on bookseller Jane Bond, lesbian twin sister of the temporarily indisposed 007, to join the Double-D ranks and save England As We Know It. Maney has shown herself a dab hand with parodies of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys (The Cast of the Good-for-Nothing Girlfriend, not reviewed, etc.), though here her endless double-entendres and grooming tips must rise to the greater challenge of hitting a target that’s already been lampooned dozens of times before—and one that never took itself very seriously to begin with.
