KIRKUS REVIEW

The death of the Chinese ward of a well-known socialite and rare jade collector, Mrs. Allison, throws the Police Commissioner under suspicion. The law balks at investigating its chief, so Bradshaw of the chief newspaper takes to sleuthing and a hotbed results. Two more murders to cover up a robbery -- and the original murderer finally revealed, a surprise twist. Trips along nicely, occasionally splashy, but good entertainment.
