THE BIG GREEN BOOK: A Four Season Guide to Vermont

A comprehensive guide to the pleasures of the Green Mountain state, with tips on skiing and snowmobiling, camping and touring, locating covered bridges, craft shops, and antiques; a seasonal calendar; and a region-by-region directory of ski areas, campsites, monuments, museums, hostelries, etc. The entries are so precise as to encourage a stop. In Coolidge State Forest, for instance, ""An old red spruce-hemlock forest grows on the rocky slopes bordering Tinker Brook. . . . Above the ravine is an old stand of northern hardwoods; there are also many wildflowers and ferns."" No blather, not even about country inns.
