Madeline Cutler Dixon's father was a Universalist minister with a wig and a stentorian delivery. Son of a Maine clipper captain, he sailed about the world three times and tried several landlubber Jobs before he felt the call and settled for it, with Philena S. Rich as his wife. He had three daughters who shared life at the various parsonages, and certainly one who adored him. Mrs. Dixon's recall is affectionate and admiring as she portrays the minister who was quite a man. Her life with father included winters at Pawtucket, summers in farm country with Gramma and Grampa in Maine. There were bouts with a model T Ford and flu and prejudice in World War I. Then it was tune to grow up and marry, and later, for Father to go to his reward at seventy-six. Au amiable enough if unexceptional accounting.
