PEACE OF SOUL

One of the ablest and most successful propagandists of the Catholic faith in America is Magr. Fulton J. Sheen. It is to him that prominent converts to the Catholic faith are referred for instruction. His addresses on the radio and his numerous books are given a wide and respectful hearing. The title and content of this book suggests that the author wished to capitalize on the widespread public interest which has made Rabbi Liebman's Peace of Hind a best seller, and, at the same time, dig still deeper into human need. ""Peace of Mind is not enough"" is the Catholic position (indeed Liebman's popular book was not approved by the Catholic authorities); there must be ""peace of soul"". The larger portion of the book is devoted to psycho-analysis, which Magr. Sheen feels has a place, if a limited one. But it is- he claims- only through religion and through the faith of the Catholic Church that one can find such integration and certitude that will give peace of soul. The book is a frank and forceful plea for converts to the Catholic faith. Not only Catholics but all who are interested in discovering what is the point of view of one of our leading Catholic thinkers will be interested in this book.
