TEXAS STAR

Indians, the Rangers and Texas, in this period story set in Austin about 1845. The Blake children, Andrew, Linda and little Peter, who took the long journey from Yonkers, New York, to join their parents in Texas, find their home cosy and the dramatic life on the plains exciting. And Andy can hardly wait to grow up and join the Rangers from whom he learns the dangers of the wilds and the ever-present threat of the Indians. Thanks to the skills he has learned from the Rangers, Andy is able to rescue Peter from the Indians although they escape with Texas Star, Andy's horse. The return of the horse, a celebration, as the Star State joins the Union, and a glorious ride with the Rangers ends the book. Not primarily a horse book, but a little more meat than the average Western.
