Chris and Valerie of Pittsburgh have spent half a year in an English boarding school where they made friends with Geoff an English boy, and the Headmaster and his wife- the Mansells. Now they are with Geoff and the Mansells on a summer trip- combining archeology with pleasure-through the north of Ireland, before they go to visit their Aunt Mary in Donegal. Among the places they see are Belfast, Antrim, Derry, Great Blasket, Dublin and Aran. The casual yet sustained way in which their plans and the country's character emerge, make an altogether companionable book.
