KIRKUS REVIEW

A popular, illustrated edition of the famous memoirs of a cavalry officer of Napoleon's army. The ""high spots"" have been selected and a skillful job-of editorial surgery performed, so that the text reads smoothly and the impression left is vivid and colorful, with the exception of the end which comes abruptly with the failure of the Russian campaign. Napoleonic enthusiasts will want it for its spirited illustrations, even if they are familiar with the original material. Primarily for men and older boys, and those interested in military tactics and strategy.
