KIRKUS REVIEW

This is not definitely a history of West Point though the first two thirds includes the story of the found of the Military Academy it also is a eulogy of Sylvanus Thayer, an early graduate, and the part he played in the subsequent reorganization of his alma mater, while the last third is a summary of the importance of West Point graduates in national life. Of interest to friends of the Academy, graduates, and possibly public libraries, but the material is not handled in a manner that will interest the general reading public. Times being what they are, however, this might have a wider appeal than we think.
