With 21 million People investing money in this country, there is a definite place for a book which is aimed ""not at children or the deans of Wall Street"" but which will enlighten almost everyone in-between. In seventeen chapters, eighteen outstanding brokers, bankers, counselors, and journalists lead the reader from the elementary to the esoteric. The uninformed should skip a chapter he doesn't understand, perhaps those on puts, calls and arbitrage (4), bounds (6), investing in science (9), investing abroad (10), and the chartists (12). There is still a lot of solid information left. The chapter on the psychological approach is worth some mental sweat and, of particular interest in an election year, is Eliot Janeway's piece on politics and the market. . . . invest in it-you have nothing to lose but your ignorance.
