This collection has been made with the very evident intention -- not of including the obvious from Komingway, but of bringing together the best, in a varied cross section of his work. One novel is given in full, ""The Sun Also Rises""; unforgettable segments of other novels have been skillfully lifted from their content; episodes from some of his non-fiction writings skim the cream off the jug; some of his finest and less well-known short stories (omitting those in numerous anthologies); and finally, with a special introduction by Edmund Wilson, the whole of the random pieces that make up ""In Our Time"". A brilliant piece of editing, which should serve to widen the Hemingway audience, and to crystallize for many the emotional values, the many-faceted talent that is his...
