THE HOME FRONT DIGEST

This does two things that other books in the field have not done:- it links with the routine matters of blackouts, safety measures, first aid, fire fighting, health, nutrition, etc. (1) a section on Recreation which includes some sound and practical and economical advice on types of carless vacations, costs, locales, and so on: (2) an excellent section on the financial home front,- reconstructed budgets, how and where to cut expenses, what to do about taxes, insurance, purchase of war savings, and savings for future investment in restricted goods of today. There are good sections on vegetable gardening for the beginner, on protection against enemy propaganda, false news. The final section deals with the Home Front Army, by brief definition of the defense services, what they do, how to qualify. Good handbook for the man in the street.
