THE SUN NEVER SETS

This might be called Englands Only Yesterday, but to the American reader, it is pretty stiff ploughing through marshalled facts of political detail and activity. Scattered throughout, of course, are events of national and international importance, there is some (scarce) anecdotal material, there is plenty of good quotable material, dry wit and apt turns of phrase, but on the whole, a lack of familiarity with the personnel and their governmental status makes this difficult for an American average reader to follow intelligently. The last ten years have been eventful, and this book reflects superficially, England's part in the pageant.
