A family of young English children, evacuated to the back country, fall on a vicious gang of Nazi spies, led by a clever, charming woman who tries to be friends with the family but is defeated and discovered by an otherwise friendly dog, Macbeth (who murders sleep) and two incorrigible children, twins with a faculty for falling into trouble. Real atmosphere, fine feeling for the country, excellent family relationships and a surprisingly good yarn for the age level. A real adventure and mystery plus good everyday exploration and animal interest.
