THE COUNTRY OF LOVE

By

Pub Date: Sept. 23rd, 1966
Publisher: Doubleday

This ephemera deals with the love affair between Sarah, 31 and divorced, now in New York, and Philip, forty-nine, twice divorced and still married, head of a large, N.Y. corporation, who ""looks...lovely...pale, dark, worldly, pristine"" when first met. Lovely, pale, worldly, too, all that intimation/expectation of the affair which blossoms through the next months, can lead nowhere, offer nothing, so Sarah leaves him, for Washington, but he comes down there for a weekend--""thrilling""--""my lover and I""--and obviously it will go on. ""We will turn to each other then and embark on an embrace as on a secret journey through country which only we two can ever know."" It's all just as vaporous as that--like eau de cologne.
