BEWARE THE HOOT OWL

How redheaded Ann, with murder on her mind, takes a job as governess and gets entangled in someone else's murders, and the attempts against her charge, six-year-old Finley who is due to inherit if she lives to the age of seven. Confiding in Peter MacDonald, the most deeply implicated but most trustworthy, they manage to keep Finley alive -- themselves in the clear -- and old wrongs revenged. Feminine forecasting and foolhardiness on the heavy side, but otherwise pleasantly engaging.
