THE RAIDERS OF BEAVER LAKE

By

Publisher: Nelson

The Sleuth Patrol was a Junior Literary Guild and a good combination of Boy Scout and detection material; this new title rings in a variation on the same mixture. For Randy Hunter, a Boy Scout, comes to live with his grandfather in North Carolina and fights his way into acceptance with Jebs who knows the local wildlife but nothing about Scouting. Randy teaches him from his experience while Jebs enlarges Randy's horizons in natural history- particularly in all details of beaver life at the colonies established by the Government. When they discover would-be poachers, the excitement begins, traps for the beavers are found and traps for the despoilers are laid. Randy gets in trouble with his grandfather, both he and Jebs are caught by the law-breakers, Randy escapes and returns to save Jebs, making full use of their Scouting lore. Good out-of-doors material and believable exploits.
