LENNY AND LOLA by Marc Brown

LENNY AND LOLA

By

Pub Date: April 1st, 1978

Illustrated with Brown's usual heavy hatching, this is the story of trapeze partners Lenny and Lola (like the audience and the other performers, they happen to be dogs), who break up when Lola tries a solo flourish and Lenny objects. Unsuccessful with other partners, Lenny goes solo (a tear in his eye suggests his feelings), but one night as he prepares to do his special ""triples"" Lola appears on the opposite platform. ""They both did triples. The crowd went wild!"" Then ""the magic happened"" and together they fly round the tent, out the door, and up into the stars. There's not much magic in Brown's performance, though the ending does pick up an otherwise ordinary routine.
