Silly spy Appleton Porter--prone to blushing, meek, 6'7""--is off on his eighth foolish mini-caper, disguised as a member of Britain's official basketball team. Why so? Because spymaster Angus Watkin has gotten word that a member of the USSR basketball contingent is eager to establish contact with UK intelligence--at the upcoming meet in Dublin. Is there indeed a would-be traitor among the Russian players? After Apple makes a few timid approaches, it seems unlikely. But meanwhile he has fallen for KGB agent Dui, the Russian team's masseuse; she reciprocates. So, to stay together, and to provide a cover for Dui's own defection, the spy-lovers fake big spy doings, misleading both sides--all of which doesn't matter much since, as usual, Porter's whole mission is just a decoy-outing for the real UK caper (involving the KGB and the IRA). Thin and dippy, with routine slapstick (including Apple's debut on the basketball court) for those so inclined.
